Notification Regarding Health Fees and Texas SB 1008 (89th Legislative Session)
As a result of recent changes under Texas Senate Bill 1008, the City has updated its health permit fee structure to align with state requirements. Health inspection renewal fees will now be assessed based on the establishment’s risk category: low risk, medium risk, or high risk. Please refer to the fee schedule below for the cost associated with each category.
These updates ensure consistency with the Texas Department of State Health Services and reflect the level of public health oversight appropriate for each type of establishment.

School Permitting
Notification regarding School Permitting as it relates to the latest change from Texas SB 1008 for the 89th Legislative Session.
School Permitting Effective 09-01-2025
Mobile Food Units:
Effective July 1, 2026, pursuant to Texas House Bill 2844, permitting and inspections for Mobile Food Units (MFUs) in the State of Texas will transition to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). At that time, a State Health Permit issued by DSHS will replace local permits and inspections currently conducted under local authority. A single, state-issued permit will authorize MFU owners to operate in all jurisdictions throughout Texas. This change reflects recent state legislation standardizing permitting and inspection responsibilities at the state level, effective July 1, 2026.
If you operate a mobile food unit in the City of Fulshear, please be advised that you are required to schedule a health inspection. Inspections are available twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. You must also pass your Fire Marshal inspection before obtaining your Health Inspection with the City of Fulshear.
To schedule your inspection or if you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact the City of Fulshear Health Division. We are here to help ensure your mobile food unit meets health standards and operates safely within the city.
