The Fulshear City Council has approved Ordinance No. 2026-1529 ordering a Special Election to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
During this election, voters will consider Proposition A, which would reduce the sales and use tax currently dedicated to the promotion and development of new and expanded business enterprises by one-quarter of one percent (0.25%) and adopt a local sales and use tax at a rate of 1 and ¼ percent.
If approved by voters, the measure would reallocate a portion of existing sales tax revenue to the City’s General Fund. The intent of this reallocation is to support public safety needs, including police staffing and salaries, as the community continues to grow.
City officials emphasized that the measure does not create a new tax or increase the overall sales tax rate. Instead, it reallocates a portion of existing sales tax revenue currently dedicated to economic development purposes.
If approved, the change would take effect in FY2027.
Additional information, including early voting dates, polling locations, and ballot-by-mail procedures, will be posted on the City of Fulshear website as details become available.
