Over the last several weeks the firm, Bickerstaff, Heath, Delgado and Acosta LLP, which worked with the City on prior redistricting efforts has been evaluating City building permits, water meter, trash, and other data, to estimate a total population and its geographic dispersion in order to begin proposing new City Council districts.
These proposed districts, as well as some demonstration of how they've been created, and the current districts, were discussed in open session during a special city council meeting on September 2, 2025. The current districts were created as a result of the 2020 Census, a time right before a period of rapid growth, and therefore this mid-Census redistricting provides an opportunity to once again bring the five districts into a more generally equitable population.

City Council is set to vote on the maps at the regular city council meeting on September 16, 2025. If new maps are approved, all city council members, including the mayor, must run in the next election.
