FULSHEAR, TEXAS, August 2025 — Two high schools, one road, and a yearlong rivalry - the City of Fulshear is proud to launch the Battle of the Bend, a yearlong annual competition between Fulshear High School and Jordan High School. Though the two campuses are separated by district lines, both call the City of Fulshear home and are connected by Fulshear Bend Drive, making them natural rivals and neighbors.

The Battle of the Bend will use the University Interscholastic League’s (UIL) statewide Lone Star Cup point system, allowing both athletic and academic achievements to count toward each school’s overall score. This approach ensures that every competition, from football to fine arts to debate, can help determine the champion.

The winning school will take home the new Churchill Fulshear Trophy, a distinctive award, designed to be a lasting symbol of achievement and school pride for years to come. This trophy and the inaugural Battle of the Bend are made possible through the generous sponsorship of Culver’s Fulshear and its owner/operator, Brian Spolnicki.

“The Battle of the Bend came from a desire to build a stronger sense of community across school districts and throughout the City,” said City Manager Zach Goodlander. “This initiative is about fostering a shared Fulshear identity, no matter your school or neighborhood. I’m excited to see it take off, and I’m grateful to Kyle Smith, our intern, for helping bring it to life, to both school districts for their participation.”

As the 2025–26 school year begins, the City will track points throughout the year, cheer on students across every competition, and crown the first Battle of the Bend champion in summer 2026. Residents can follow the standings and updates through the City’s communication channels.
