About the Mayor
Mayor Tommy Kuykendall was originally elected to office in May 2010 and the voters of Fulshear elected him to his 3rd term in office in May 2014. Mr. Kuykendall, a lifelong resident of Fort Bend County, has resided in the City of Fulshear since 2000. Mr. Kuykendall was re-elected as the president of the Fulshear Development Corporation in July 2013 and previously served the City of Fulshear on the Fulshear Planning Commission from 2002 to 2010. He has modeled his service to Fulshear and guides his daily decisions as Mayor on the slogan “Fulshear deserves the best.”
Mr. Kuykendall graduated from B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg, Texas. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He has volunteered in various roles with the American Society of Engineers Houston Branch serving as president of this 3,000 member organization in 2007. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Central Fort Bend Chamber Alliance and is a member of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Kuykendall is a licensed Professional Engineer working as Vice President and Manager of CivilCorp, LLC’s Houston Branch providing civil engineering and surveying services to governmental, municipal and private clients.
Mr. Kuykendall has been married to his wife, Rhonda, for 27 years. They have a 17-year old daughter, Alyssa, and a 15-year old son, Ty. Their children attend Foster High School in LCISD. Rhonda has been active in volunteering with her children’s school, strengthening child abuse laws in the Texas legislature, and pursuing a photography career. The Kuykendalls are active members of the Avenue N Church of Christ in Rosenberg, Texas.
