Court Procedures

The first appearance in court in response to receiving a citation is for the purpose of arraignment. Please plan to arrive well before the beginning of the court session. When you arrive you need to sign in at the front window. All cases are seen by the court based on time of arrival.  If you plan to plead "Guilty" or "No Contest" for any  moving traffic offense(s) and pay the fine and costs immediately or are eligible and plan to request the Drivers Safety Course you may see the Clerk on or before your court date. If you are planning to request Deferred Disposition or plead "not guilty" you are required to see the Prosecutor. 

Before entering the Courtroom, please turn off all cell phones and/or pagers. You may not talk on a cell phone, play electronic games, listen to music via headphones, read newspapers, magazines or similar materials in the Courtroom. Do not bring food or beverages in the Courtroom.

Dress Code: Appropriate attire is required in the courtroom. You are expected to act and dress properly and follow the rules of the Court. Certain articles of clothing--shorts, tank tops, halter tops, caps/hats are NOT permitted. Please wear appropriate clothing when you appear in Court. Failure to do so may result in your court appearance being rescheduled or in you being held in contempt of court.



If you need to reset the court date the officer has given you, you must request the reset in writing, post-marked by your court date or by fax at 281-346-2556. NO RESETS WILL BE GRANTED OVER THE TELEPHONE.



All juveniles are required to appear in open court for all proceedings in their case(s).  The parent of any juvenile charged in municipal court is required to be present in court with his or her child.
