The Fulshear Freedom Fest, hosted by the City of Fulshear and the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Friday, July 4, 2014, 6 PM – 9:30 PM in Downtown Fulshear. Music, parade, children’s activities, fireworks, shopping, and food, this event has it all!
The Triumphs (www.orignialtriumphs.com) will take the stage at 6 PM. The nine piece band has roots that go back to the early days of rock 'n roll and also launched the career of 5-time Grammy award winner B.J. Thomas. Their music menu ranges from Elvis to the Eagles, Chuck Berry to Chicago, and the Beatles to Bobby Bland.
The parade will begin promptly at 7 PM, from the Bob Lutts Library on Fifth Street, moving south along FM 359 to First Street. Parade entries will be accepted through July 3rd. All local businesses, organizations and residents are encouraged to participate. The fireworks display will begin at 9:15 PM. The best place to view the fireworks will be within the event area, along FM 359.
There will be plenty of fun and activities for the whole family; including bounce houses, rock climbing wall, dunk tank, face painting and balloon artists. The kid’s area will benefit Our Military Kids and we ask for a $5 donation for admission, capping at $20 per family. Our Military Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to provide support and recognition to military children. This may include children ages 3 years through the 12th grade of deployed National Guard and Reserve service members, along with children of Wounded and Fallen Warriors from all branches of service. The grants to children pay for fees associated with athletic, fine arts, and tutoring programs.
Although the event begins at 6 PM, road closures will begin at 12 PM to prepare for the event and set the stage. FM 359 will be closed to all traffic between Front Street and Second Street between 12 PM, Friday, July 4, 2014 and 1 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2014. North bound traffic traveling along FM 359 and/or FM 1093 will be detoured by police officers to travel along Front St. to Harris St. to Fifth St. and will resume their intended route North on FM 359. South Bound traffic traveling along FM 359 will be detoured by police officers to travel along Second St. to Syms St. and will exit on FM 1093 to resume their intended route.
